Hubert Lignier Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Didiers – Hospices de Nuits – Cuvée Fagon
At long last, the 2014 wines from Domaine Hubert Lignier arrived today. This marks the first vintage that the family has back full control of all their vineyards, half of which were tied up in court with the widow of Hubert's late son, Romain. During this ten year period they smartly acquired other prime vineyards and now have an even more impressive range. This also allowed Hubert's younger son, Laurent, to come back into the fold and to show his place at the domaine, his name is displayed next to his father's on the label.
From the website: In this instance the Ligniers have developed a habit of purchasing on an annual basis this very special cuvée that belongs to the Hospices of Nuits Saint Georges. The 1er Cru “Les Didiers” is a 2.45 hectares monopole of the Hospices de Nuits that sits just below “Les Cailles.”. The “Cuvée Fagon” is from a parcel within Les Didiers that is planted to 65 year old vines (as of 2012). After the initial wine is made, the Ligniers take possession of the wine and do the elevage according to their style. The wine is one the most rich and masculine of all wines from Nuits.
