Mi Sueno Syrah 2011
TASTING NOTES: Violet ruby in hue, the 2011 Mi Sueño Syrah is a boldly seductive wine. Extraordinary aromas of vibrant floral, brambly raspberry, camphor, forest floor, graphite with hints of vanilla, tobacco and smokiness entice the nose. Followed by a palate bursting with honey, tobacco, toasty oak, graphite, bittersweet dark chocolate flavors with a subtle minerality. Full bodied with firm acidity, supple texture and velvety tannins that linger for a long finish. This complex Syrah is reminiscent of Old World style winemaking. HARVEST & VINEYARD: Our limited production Syrah comes from the Cortese Vineyard in the hills of Coombsville, located in South Napa. Due to its varied soil types and the numerous mesoclimates spread throughout its rolling landscape, excellent examples of Syrah are produced. Coombsville wines can be recognized by their typically soft but significant tannins, which provide excellent structure and mouthfeel, along with underlying layers of earth and mineral flavors. They are quite often approachable yet sophisticated and layered and not at all simplistic. FOOD PAIRING: Pair with Lamb Chops, Korean Sizzling Beef, Slow Cooked Beef Brisket or Meatloaf.
